Join Theatrica Gladiatoria in the RAC Theater at 1:30pm for the Jedi Academy: Students will learn a little about theatrical combat & flow with Lightsabers from the professionals at Theatrica Gladiatoria (who train out of Riverside Art Center)!
Center Stage Productions
Center Stage Productions will kick off our RAC Theater Workshops at noon, with improve and theater games that are fun for all ages.
At CSP over and over we see our participants find their spark in the theater. Although we have had some that have made a life in theater, many rely on the skills they have learned through their experiences. This is where we learn to win and lose, laugh and cry, and learn the meaning of teamwork. Each lighting cue, stage piece, single line or single note contributes to the artwork that the world will see. Each rehearsal at Center Stage is a work of art in itself!
Bichini Bia Congo
Experience Congolese dance and music with Bichini Bia Congo! Participants will learn basic movements for Congolese cultural dances and will wrap up with a mini performance at the end of the workshop. You can catch Bichini Bia Congo twice during the fair in the RAC Theater with Black Men Read at 12:45 pm and in the RAC Dance Hall at 3 pm.
Black Men Read (BMR)
Black Men Read will host a reading followed by a Bichini Bia Congo dance tutorial by Tamara in the RAC Theater at 12:45 pm. As well as a literacy make and take activity, or a dance activity all day in the Youth Center.
BMR envisions a beloved community where all children feel loved, seen and valued. We believe that the rich tradition of oral storytelling was how communities thrived before the written word. Now, through books, we hope that young people and their families will carry forward these Indigneous traditions by engaging in readings and learning with us. Ours is a world where all children embrace reading and have fully taken hold of the opportunity to discover their world through learning and inquiry.
We are teaching children to read their world, not just books. We are engaging our children in re-shaping a world where they cannot fail; where their zip code does not define their opportunity.
